What years?

300-6 engine. What year did Ford come out with the split exhaust manifold for this engine and for how many years did it last as OE?
I'm gonna see if I can find for my engine. Any common faults with this manifold as far as checking out used piece? Installation problems to know about? I may even search for Offy intake w/2bbl carb.
Need project until I can afford V8 project next year.
Thanks

The split exhaust were put on when they went to the efi set up. 87-96 when they phased the 300 out. They are all basically the same wasn't many changed to them through the years. The only common faults to look for are the exhaust flange studs being broke off. Thats about the only thing I can think of. If you look for an offy intake make sure you can use the 2bbl carb on it. I know the offy dp you have to use a 4bbl carb the offy c I believe you can use either or but I am not totally sure.

Come over to the inline forum

Plenty of people over there that would be more than happy to help you out.

Found source for good manifolds at a good price. Hadn't figured on having to make it a dual-exhaust system. I expected they'd terminated into the one exhaust pipe. I don't particularly what a dual system, so what's the solution to terminate into existing exh pipe? Gotta have a Cat here. If I have to redo existing exh pipe, what is a good muffler choice? Good sounding, but not loud?

On the intake: can use adapter for 2-bbl. No interest in a 4-bbl. If I happen across an intake, I'll get it and deal with it.

Thanks

I would think you could go to a junk yard and take a look at how the '87-'96's are setup. Maybe even getting some pieces to make yours work. Just a thought.

You sure you want to ditch the 6??? have you checked out 6=8 Clifford Performance catalogue? They have intake manifold options... (Clifford Performance :: Make 6 = 8) I had a 300 inline six and really miss it. I got rid of the truck because it was not 4X4... kind of regret that decision sometimes.

For the exhaust you can use a walker y pipe. Part number is WLK-45166. Can get from summit racing, jegs, or advance auto, rock auto. I got mine from Advance Auto ran me I think $65 and had it in a couple days. If you get lucky in a junk yard you can find one that is decent shape from the factory and it is a 2 into one right before the cat. I got one out of a junk yard and they cut it right before the cat where they came into one. As for muffler/mufflers depending on the route you go. I have a Thrush Welded muffler on mine right now and I think it sounds pretty good. Not to lound and its not quite. I ran duals with 2 of those mufflers and now I am running the walker pipe with just one of those mufflers and it sounds pretty good.

Tks. Got that Walker # from the engine forum. Checked around locals for costs. Advance will get for me for $79.99+$9 shipping and sales tax=$96 total cost

From RockAuto=$82 total cost with discount & shipping....(shipping from RA is $22)

Before ordering I'm gonna call local yards and see if I can find 'used'. '87-'96 should be same....I think/hope.

Thanks for the response.

87-96 should be the same. Try advance auto online. I got mine from there and got free shipping and was like $65. Just search the part number alone on there site.
