I’ll make this as short as possible. I’m new on the forum but I’ve read a ton of info here and still need help. I recently bought a 1992 F-150 5.0 AOD truck. When I looked at it, we got it to run but I had to keep my foot on the gas. No big deal, I get it home and haven’t been able to get it to run since. So I’m not getting any spark. I’ve got 3 other obs fords. So I started taking known working parts to swap. I’ve tried 2 distributors, 2 coils, 2 TFI modules, Ignition relay under the steering wheel. new plugs, wires. Basically the signal wire for the coil loses signal once I go to CRANK. With KEY ON I’m getting signal and 12v on the other wire. Go to CRANK and the signal goes away. Used a test light, no blinks nothing. I’ve checked the harness and pins, I can’t find anything wrong. My question is should I buy another computer? The other trucks are different configurations therefor I can’t just swap one to try. I just want other opinions on this before I actually have to spend money. Thanks for any help!
There’s 2 wires that plug into the coil itself. The right (driver side) is 12v power. The left (passenger) is a signal wire. That comes from the pickup inside distributor. Sends to the TFI and from the TFI to the coil. And it’s not blinking with a test light. I’ve been trying to get it running for 2 weeks now. I’m no expert but I should be getting something while cranking. And I’m not.
