Question 2019 oil pan

I had a 2002 7.3 with the dreaded oil pan leak issue. I nursed it along until it was sold this week. So I now have a 2019 F250 6.7 Crew Cab. Looking under i dont see any cross member under the pan which is a nice feature. I was wondering what the material is made of. Did they upgrade to aluminum pans? If it is steel again do i need to spray it so I don't end up rusting it out over time like the last one. I would like to pre empt the start so to speak. thanks

There is an upper and a lower oil pan. The upper portion is aluminum the lower pan which houses the drain plug is steel (unless something has changed since the 2016 models). I personally wouldn't bother spraying it with anything to prevent rusting because it's an easy and cheap item to replace if it does rust through.

What I would do is paint it and other parts to prevent rusting if unpainted.

Then I would (and do) spray fluid film on those steel parts as a rust/salt corrosion inhibitor.
