It is much more $ than other methods, but seems really good. Only drawback I can see is you have to have a good box to start with. On that note, how do you rebuild/repair one of these manual boxes? RedHead does not appear to offer a rebuild. Maybe it is like my old Ford 861 in that the steering box is what it is (meaning you cannot fix).
Interested in a conversation about Steerman and rebuilding the manual box. Lots of new cars have electric power steering, seems like a modern move versus hydraulic.
Im in the middle of an EPAS build but its on pause for now. I took the EPAS out of a 2007 toyota prius. I built my mounting bracket and used 3 u-joints and a piece of 3/4 DD shaft. I didnt cut and fit the DD shaft yet. Im waiting till cab and everything is in final position. Getting ready for paint soon and hunting season is here. Its going to be a little while before Im back on this.
This is how mine is laid out and thats the original shaft beneath in the pic.
