If the display lights up, you shouldn't have contact issues. HOWEVER, I still see some coating on a couple of contacts (the two rightmost ones in the top picture and also the rightmost one in the second picture.
ya I got the tuner working. But as stated earlier everything feels the same, I mean it pulls hard and the pedal is super touchy... idk not crazy about it.
maybe its made really more toward auto trucks ...
I paid 300$ for it and now I gotta pay 175$ for Tunes
I know go fast ain’t cheap but .....dang man
Your issues aren't what I have experienced. I have put the PHP tunes on a few manual transmissions (99-01 that use the VOAA7P6 calibrations) and haven't had an overly sensitive pedal or a run-out-of-steam problem in the midrange.

I know it’s weird, let me say I appreciate the responses btw. I did the hutch and harpoon mods and installed a pre-filter In-line back in april, since then I have pulled my 7k lb boat about a 1200 mile round trip and had zero issues. Now idk how much more fuel the hydra is trying to dump into the engine over the edge but I’m 99% sure I do not have a fuel supply problem. I did a full service on the truck 24 miles ago and everything looked stellar. It’s only this afternoon since installing the hydra that everything feels out of whack.
I have a 2000 ZF6 and I can tell you for a fact the various tunes run and react differently. Throttle response is not overly sensitive at all and I am very particular about that because I drive like an old man.
I settled on PHP 65 HP Performance for towing heavy and daily driver because of the other modifications I have.
Have you loaded something simple like a high idle and tested it?
I just checked my Hydra files on my netbook and they are VOAA7P6.

no I did not load a high idle tune, I did load a whisper quiet tune at #1 and when I go to that tune in the driveway I can 100% hear a difference in the way the engine sounds. If I turn it back to anything else it sounds normal. I like the way the tunes make the truck pull and I am building more boost but I mean it falls flat on its face after 21-2200
I know my contacts are clean I pulled it back out and used some electrical cleaner and the scotch bite pad very gently until all the pins were smooth from one end to the other. im gonna sleep on it tonight and I may run by php tomorrow if they are open since they are right down the road
Let us know what they say. I am somewhat local to PHP as well since we are out in the country near Lake Hartwell.
I would not say my truck falls on its face at 2200 RPM at all, but I have significant modifications to the intake and turbo charging system.
When I installed my Hydra several years ago, I did a bunch of stuff to the turbo to upgrade it and swapped the OEM exhaust for a 4" system. Even with those parts I would say the truck would not start to run flat until 2800-2900 RPM. Rarely would I get the RPM up that high, but sometimes when towing heavy through the north GA, NC or TN mountains it would be up there to maintain speed with the stock/modified turbo.
Spoke to Ward at php and he double checked everything and the last 2 pins on the left side of IDM had the tiniest amount of silicone on them and he said those pins could be the reason that my throttle is so touchy because the chip wasn’t receiving correct input from pedal sensor.
In summary, I went on a short test ride again yesterday and everything is smooth and back to normal...except for the power
what a difference! Worth 300$ for customer support alone.

Yea I don’t like the way the pedal feels, everything is as it is supposed to be and I feel the pedal is still touchy? Not near as bad as before and no matter what tune it is on it still falls on it’s face after 2200. I don’t like it. Now it does pull ridiculously hard and sounds mean but I just don’t like the way the truck runs overall.... I put my old edge back in. It’s not the best tuner or the strongest I’m sure, but it’s smooth and not jerky or touchy.
Gonna sell it to a friend for half what I paid.
hope he is happier w it than I am. He has an 03 w an auto trans so maybe it will work better for him

This is the Injector Driver Module and NOT the ECM that the PHP unit plugs into? I'm kinda curious because ever since I changed the pedal (failed), it has been twitchy and I had to get Jody (DP-Tuner) to redo it. It ran fine but as you go over the bumps, the pedal being twitchy makes the engine surge and drop. Jody said he has seen it happen with a couple of trucks where a pedal change causes it to become over sensitive. I had to change because my pedal was a one plug unit so you can't change the Idle Validation.
