I've read a lot of posts about this P0713 code. Check engine light has been on for a while. When I finally remembered to take my code reader that's what came up.
I get no flashing Tow/Haul light, but often I cannot select Tow/Haul. There is no trans temp gauge on this van. On my last trip it sometimes took a while to shift into top gear on the highway. However, there was an exhaust leak where someone tried to steal the catalytic converter but only sawed halfway through the pipe. I got that repaired and it shifted fine on the way back from the shop.
The van lives in Nashville and I live about 120 miles from there, so it's a pain to do repairs.
My question is this. I need to drive it about 400 miles for a gig on Thursday. Assuming there's enough fluid in there will it do any damage to drive with a bad sensor?
2007 E450, V10 engine.
Thanks for that. However, since nobody seems to know when the trans was last flushed I'm renting a van for this trip.
I'll have the trans serviced before the next gig.
Hi Driver D
i bought a cheap IR thermometer and check my trans, wheel bearings, third member, tires, etc at every gas stop on long trips. I also had a suspect trans temp sensor, which proved to be fine. I also got an OBD dongle and the model specific upgrade in the app that includes trans temp.
cheers
