On my 1989 F250 Lariat XLT, I would like to remove the dash panel section that contains the headlight switch, wiper switch and tank switch. How is this done without breaking the plastic panel ( which I am good at}.
I used a flathead screwdriver the first time, now I can yank it off by hand. Be gentle, that piece is in there pretty good. The hardest part for me was getting the washer/wiper **** and headlight switch ***** off.
I bought one of those door panel removal tools, seem to use it allot.
pull light and wiper switch off, don't lose little clips.
Use tool to pop corner of panel and now you can pop the rest off.
All other panels have screws as well as being clipped.
I set up a socket on my small cordless drill for removing screws, goes quick.
pull light and wiper switch off, don't lose little clips.
What clips?
To remove the *****, put a pick or pocket screwdriver in the slot behind the **** and then pull toward you to relieve the tension on the retaining spring. The **** will come right off.
I used a hooked pick on mine. They've been removed numerous times now and a small screwdriver won't release the tension on the clip enough to actually pull the **** off. Good luck! Use your phone camera to see what's going on in there if you have to. I sure did the first time!
