I get it, I've thought of that issue too. The problem for me is I step away from this "project" for months at a time. And even with that my videos are way, way behind what I actually do, so they don't match up either. But if someone is doing something and I think something may be pertinent, I drop that something in. I think I'm just going to post the videos on YT and not here, I've got videos here slashed all over the place with little of a story, and most people want to follow a story in a shorter timeframe in a single thread. Some of these treads get discussions, and others get no response.
I wasn't trying to dissuade you from posting them here...
The stator is the inner fan shroud that bolts to the engine.
Well, heck, I knew that. Dementia sucks. I've been calling that the diffuser lately; not sure where I got that from. What is the purpose of that anyway? It'd sure make working on the front of the engine easier without it.
That tends to stir up a debate since no one on the forums were there for the design.
But I’ve heard without it you need to put a ground strap on your transmission due the static buildup on the front of the motor. Air passing a moving rubber belt or something like that......
Everything stirs up a debate these days! I know that if I put my stator back on I’m leaving the insulation off because mine was so raggedy it looked like a sheepdog.
A fellow member did a full rebuild on his 6.0 at the same time I had mine apart in April and within the first week he almost burned the truck up because the stator insulation rubbed on the belt and started a fire under the hood. Luckily he had a fire extinguisher handy...true story.

I don't recall any insulation on my stator. Got a pic to refresh my memory????? I am seriously curious.

I’ll take a pic when I get back to the shop. I removed it and it was held on the stator with big push pins. I had the under hood insulation as well. Early 2003 might be why.
My stator and hood have insulation too. Is there anything on the underside of the newer truck's hoods or is it just painted sheet metal? Funny I never noticed a difference in any pictures I've looked at of other guys' trucks.
I have a hood blanket on my 04, I just don't remember any on the stator, but it's been gone for a while, too.
The hood insulation was discontinued in 05. You can still buy the insulation and install on 05 and 06 trucks. Get the insulation retainers from another source besides the dealer. They think they are gold plated. AZ, Oreillys etc. have them as does Amazon.
I removed my hood insulation a couple of years ago and tossed it because it was torn up from the CAC tube blowing off under high boost. I did my CCV reroute and new everything so my system is dry and no oil vapor gunking up my boots making them easy to blow off. Best thing I’ve done so far I think!
I think later on I’m going to spray the underside of the hood with ceramic coating. My under hood temperature dropped significantly after I wrapped my Y pipe and down pipe with heat wrap and ceramic and coated my exhaust headers with VHT 2000 degree paint. I wanted to keep the temps down so my new wiring harnesses and all connectors don’t get so much heat exposure.
