I know this is stupid but... I am reinstalling my dash after a rewire and I cant seem to get the speedo cable to fit properly. Wont snug down all the way. I know taking off i had to pinch the white clip , to reinstall is there any trick to it?
No trick that I know of, just clip it back on. Is the white piece you pinch in the "up" or un-pinched position? Are you sure you are getting it pushed all the way on?
I've struggled with this in the past as well. Does the inner cable have a rounded point on it? What I think can happen is that the square cable end is not lining up with the speedometer end and so the cable is not inserting. You can push in on the outer cable until there is no more flex on the internal cable and it won't quite seat.
Try removing the cable from the transmission. Install the cable at the speedometer and then re-install at the transmission.
