my 56 f100 has the one from dennis carpenter in it.the guy that i bought the truck from had just installed it a few months ago.it fits nice and looks great
I was watching one of the car building shows ( don't remember which ) and on a heavily chopped - modified car they filled the roof with spray foam , sanded it to contour and covered it with material . This would be something I may consider as if your not happy with the outcome it's pretty easy to add more foam or just cover with a conventional headliner . You really wouldn't be out much other than time and allot of shampoo from sanding foam over your head .
I think I saw someplace that it's not a good idea to use spray foam on sheet metal, it traps moisture and rusts the metal. I could be wrong on that, but if you consider it you might want to do a lot of research first to make sure!
I will add a couple more post as i proceed to install and evaluate the headliner.
My first impression is that Dennis Carpenter has s good deal going on shipping. No one else would ship these HUGE boxes for $14.99, not each but for both!!!!
I unpacked the headliner and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of a Made in USA product.
Its a bit rainy here so when i can roll Mater out i will begin installing the kit.

Ya they didn't show the process or what foam they used . There was only a short segment on them in the car contouring the foam . So yes allot of research would be needed . It just seemed like an interesting idea that I may look into if I ever get that far . lol
I used the dc headliner in my 48, pretty easy but very helpful to have a second set of hands for adjusting, get it out of the box so it can relax a bit inside the house
