Headliner install -- 1966F100
Thanks! --Noah
I compared it to the cardboard version you see out there and for the price I thought it was worth it.
First the one i purchased was described as molded, which gave the impression it was already formed, but when it arrived, it was a flat piece of plastic with black vinyl glued to it. Like you described there is no overlap etc, so i had to cut it down leaving about 2 inches around and contact cemented it around the edge.
Installing it is a pain and very similar process to the cardboard version. There is a video on you tube of someone installing the cardboard version. In the video they wet it to form it, but in my case I put in sun then used a heat gun to ultimately form it to where you want. Lots of trial and error to make it fit. Be careful not to burn the material.
Had to form the back edges of the top piece to make the curve
Side pieces were curved vertically to fit the curve of the cab
I installed sholder belts and that is really what is keeping the side pieces in place
Middle piece was the tricky one, as I formed it over a pipe horizontally, then you have to form the edges each way diagnally. Be prepared to jump in and out of truck
You are supposed to use 1 screw in the middle of the cab ceiling to hold up, but this has some weight, so I had to multiple screws spaced out into the support bar in the middle of the ceiling. I did this along the front edge as well and in some areas of back rear of both sides. heating is the trick, cause the plastic has memory and lifted in areas i did not want it to.
Overall I am happy with it. it is not a show car, so it is not perfect, but looks a lot better then not having one.
It is apparent they did not use the best contact cement on mine, cause it has separated in some areas.
I will try to get some pics uploaded
