Headliner choices

Mater is ready for a headliner.
I found a few post regarding the headliner installation, those will be helpful.
While they are offered by most of the suppliers we use is there a difference, or might they be manufactured by the same supplier?
If different manufactures supply them are there any to avoid?

thanks,,,

I bought the Dennis Carpenter version. It installed without incident (worked solo). The fit seems just fine and no issues to report after sevenish years.

I can't speak for the post bonus built trucks but the fit on the Rod doors headliner is great on the bonus built trucks.

Looks really nice. Did you recover the liner yourself? If so what adhesive did you use?

I did cover it myself. I bought the gray headliner fabric and used a 3m spray glue meant for overhead where it can get hot. Slow and steady spraying the right amount of glue for adhesion but don't soak it or it will bleed thru. Do a test with the glue first to get a feel for the right amount of glue. I started in the center and worked my way toward the front and rear.

I was watching one of the car building shows ( don't remember which ) and on a heavily chopped - modified car they filled the roof with spray foam , sanded it to contour and covered it with material . This would be something I may consider as if your not happy with the outcome it's pretty easy to add more foam or just cover with a conventional headliner . You really wouldn't be out much other than time and allot of shampoo from sanding foam over your head .

A quick check at Dennis Carpenters has the original style headliner kit for $199 and $15 shipping. Maybe the way to go. This is the best shipping deal so far.

Head liners

On my 56 I used the DC cardboard for yrs till it got old. I then did a total rebuild of the truck and used the plastic/vinyl one from Mid fifty. Both installs were a pain in the butt, but I like the Mid fiftys better in the long run. It took a little more fitting but it looks great. This was on a big back window.

The early F1 kit is only available in original style cardboard, quote from LMC catalog page:

Headliner is the exact size for 1948-50 trucks. It may be modified to fit 1951-52 trucks by cutting the rear window area larger. The roof headliner is sewn together, all other pieces have binding sewn on the finished edges.
Kit Includes: roof, left/right sides of rear window, below rear window center, left/right sides below rear window and one pair of under dash kick panels. Comes complete with screws, washers and clips.
-T after a part number means that part must be shipped Truck Freight. The prepaid order will include a $125.00 charge for delivery in the 48 contiguous United States. Orders outside of the 48 states will be quoted. Additional delivery time required.

For the Bonus Built cabs, it is critical to use the factory provided roof bracket to secure the headliner - keeps the cardboard from sagging over time.

[And this bit of unremarkable wisdom puts me at exactly 4000 posts. Seems like there should be some sort of virtual trophy. Just saying. ]
