Recommended Locking Lug Nuts?
I recently got my 1990 F-250 HD 4x4 back up and running and am looking into locking lugs nuts as it's customary for me to buy locking nuts/bolts for all my cars.
Looking for some recommendations from the forum on what experience you've had with certain brands/types. (Gorilla, McGard, spline, pattern, hollow, etc.)
Any input is appreciated!
Cheers
a '97 E350 Club Wagon XLT tow pkg & xtras (original owner) lovingly maintained. But it's time.
The '97 has 16" OEM alloys (round holes) which I've been lucky to not have stolen. But the 2011
has custom BM Motorsport 18"s w new Goodyear LT 265 70/ R18's.
Sooo I'm thinking the best locking nuts I can find. En Rapido. I'm seeing Gorilla and McGard.
What do you guys suggest w proven track record? Tks. Mike.
open a hypothetical door and cast your eyes upon your vehicle sitting on blocks or concrete sans its OEM wheels
or custom rims. Wheel theft is not limited to any regional part of the country and it does happen. Maybe not to you;
but it is a common occurrence. Maybe there's not a market for your wheels. You are hence blessed. I suppose.
Given your rationale, the thief would just as soon take the whole vehicle and work on the rims at a controlled location.
They can always purchase a Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane and clean out the whole neighborhood.
So yes- in the extreme, they can get it if they want it bad enough. My vehicle also has an alarm/ disabler/ GPS.
One cannot purchase an owner-registered key for $9. But thanks for your "real world" observation. Seriously.
The concept of locking wheel nuts may frivolous -not frivolous, was being sincere, about wheels stolen

They can always purchase a Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane and clean out the whole neighborhood.-actually here they use hydraulic cylinder and wheel clamps in bed of truck cant see that coming like a Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane(hard to get turned around in cul-de-sac, and it takes less than 5 minutes to take whole vehicle)
