Parking Brake Cable
it was so tight that it wouldn't release when I did my rear brakes so I could hardly get them back on.
I ended up cutting the cables just so the wheels would free up
I have 2 new cables - same for left and right right?
my question is, does anyone know if I can just join the three together in such a way that I can make the adjustment at the end of the single cable that feeds that other 2? instead of messing with that handle, etc?
anyone do this?
Thanks
Replacing the forward cable was a PITA, but you have to make sure you completely unwind the parking brake lever/spring assembly. If I remember correctly, I had to use some vise grips to keep it from rewinding while installing the cable. And you have to get creative with straps and cable ties or flare nut wrenches to remove the cable housing (there are tabs that need to be compressed) where it goes through a structural member.

I have the handle that is next to the drivers side seat. - the front cable is still fine, but what I wanted to do, was tie the two rear cables to the front one, but have a way to adjust it there at that junction, so if I ever do the rear brakes again, I can release the tension there, since the handle seems to be a mystery on how to adjust it, etc.
I know that everything corrodes over time under the truck, but there must be a good "one and done" idea, where I have access to it, but I won't have to cut the cables again next time.
My Toyota parking brake cable has a stud with a nut on the end to adjust the cable. It has rear disks. It would be nice if Fords had this feature.
