Tire covers good/bad
I just replaced the rims and center caps on my 06, (old rims started to pit on the finish) I replaced them with the same chrome OEM wheels.
Since the truck doesn't get used in the winter anymore and gets covered in the driveway was considering using tire covers to keep the new wheels and center caps as new looking..
but, as much as I think it would work, I worry about it keeping moisture in..I know it would vent out the wheel holes, but even so, wondering opinions on long term wheel covers? (actually tire covers)
They also help keep dirt and debris out.
I had a tire cover on the rear spare of a car for over 10 years. The tire and wheel looks new.
I took the tire cover off (a few months) due to age and it was rotting. I kinda like the look without it better.
It has alloy wheels and about $1600 worth of rubber on it, so I try to protect the tires and get as much life as I can out of them.
My only complaint about using them is after they've been on for several months, spiders like to move in under the cover's protection! LOL!
The covers have some sort of cloth liner inside them that lets air circulate pretty good.
Worth the investment in my opinion.
