The other day I was at my dealer. There was a o6 with 20's on from the factory with a 18 for the spare. Was this a mistake from the factory or is this the way they come?
No mistake. I have an F-250 with factory 20's, and have an 18" spare, too. I have never seen a steel 20" wheel, and I don't think many would want to pay for a nice aluminum rim sitting under the rear as a spare. Besides, I think the aluminum rim, or chrome for that matter, would only pit, rust, or corrode up there catching all the road grime and salt. Most never use a spare anyway. Could it also be because a steel wheel in a 20" may not be as strong as an 18"?
By the way, be careful if you go 20's. I blew one out at 4,000 miles. It cost $285 for the tire. OUCH! Pretty stiff for one tire. On the Superduties, they sure look boss, though. I don't care for the F-150 20" wheels. They need to be shiny polished aluminum, or chrome. That argent look is stupid IMO.
As long as the two tires are the same diameter, it does'nt matter. For example, 20's with a "50" may be the same overall diameter as 18's with a "70". Check the specs on both tire sizes to be sure.
