So at 152k miles on my 2011 F250 it seems as though the HPFP has failed. It left me stranded on the side of the highway pulling my 12k 5th wheel. that was a nice tow bill. I knew Ford had some issues with the pumps but had never really done much research into the issue. I'm thinking this is a diesel so I should get a lot more miles than 150k before I have any major problems with an expensive repair cost. Boy was I wrong. So Ford has designed a system that completely trashes itself when the pump fails, as many of you already know. Not only that, they knew these pumps wouldn't last because Bosch told them they were designed for European diesel which has a lower SCAR rating than US diesel. The lower the rating the more lubricity the fuel provides. Since US diesel doesn't lubricate as well the pumps fail prematurely. Additionally anytime one of these pumps fail that is under warranty Ford make the dealer remove all the fuel system parts and send close up pictures to their engineers so they can nitpick each picture til them find something that they say indicates some sort of contamination(water) in the fuel so they then deny the warranty repair and the customer is on the hook for the bill. Or if your like me and thought this truck will last at least 200k miles you are on the hook for an $8,000 repair bill on a truck worth maybe $16,000. Seems like Ford should be held responsible for screwing everyone over but the wont be. And Chevy and Dodge use the same pump so you cant switch brands and get away from the problem. Not only does ford know its a problem, They put together a "Kit" so that you only have to order one part number and you get all the parts you need to replace after the pump blows up, how convenient, they made it easier for themselves to steal my money.
If you drive a 6.7 make sure you are using some sort of lubricant additive to the fuel. This will probably save your pump and your money.
If anyone from Ford watches the Forums and you ever want to sell me another truck, I suggest you PM me to tell me how you are addressing the issue.
Just curious about the type of fuel you use, standard #2 or bio? Have you used any fuel additives? I know these pumps are finicky and I hope to keep mine healthy by using bio fuel as much as possible and using PM-22 in every fill up.
You did get 150k miles without any problems. There are many 6.7 trucks out there, 2011's included, that have way more miles than yours and don't use additives. Additives may or may not have saved your HPFP.
Bite the bullet and fix it or sell it and stop complaining. It is not Ford only that has this issue. And no, there are no Ford reps monitoring these forums any more. They did early on but that stopped 5 years or more years ago.
That sucks for sure...sorry to hear that bud. I get fuel here in WNY from a local car wash chain called Delta Sonic. They source fuel from United Refinery in Warren, PA and Exxon Mobil. The United Fuel is said to contain up to B5 and the E.M. up to B2. They also add a ET Products additive called Power Max 1710. They test the tanks twice a day. They also have a moisture meter on their tanks. The reason I know is a sent an email to the company and the manager responsible for ordering and care of the diesel fuel called me. She also gave me her cell number if I ever had any more questions or concerns. That's great customer service IMHO. She told me they consider their fuel "premium" grade. Our pumps here in New York show a sticker for a minimum rating of 40 cetane. I wish it was higher.
I've also been using K100, a locally made additive since the truck was new. I use it for adding lubricity to fuel but it does other things such as antigel and anti microbe. The only time I have drained the frame filter is when I've changed the filters. The truck has 600 miles shy of 50k miles and on January 2nd, it will be three years I've had it. Good luck with the future.
EDIT** GM switched to the Denso fuel pump which apparently is more robust than the CP4.2 for 2020. Ram now uses the same Bosch CP4.2 that our Fords use and will continue to use in 2020.

If you buy a truck every 9 years (actually sounds like you wanted to go longer) then I don't really think you are the buyer Ford is concerned with convening to buy another one.
If you bought your 2011 9 years ago (give or take a few months), on a five year loan, you should have been payment free for four years at this point. You just had a breakdown where is asked for you to invest 16 months (at 500 per month) of that back into it. You're still 2.5 years ahead.

GM switched to denso’s HP4 pump with their L5P duramax release, so 2017+ MY have the non Bosch System.
Lot of anger in your post but........ at some point getting schooled on your truck and upkeep lies with the owner. All kinds of failures happen all the time. Its mechanical. Keeping it lubricated goes a long way. Had you started using lubricants with your fuel this may or may not have happened. Never know now.
Yes! As soon after I bought my 2014 F250 last year I had one installed. I did my research before I bought the truck and new already that I didn't want the $10k repair bill during my 5 yr loan period.
