So, contact a couple places that have newer ford rear axle assemblies for my conversion of my 65. But, they ask if it is a chassis dually assembly or not. Maybe someone can elaborate a little for me. Thanks

ALL 1953/79 F350's with DRW (Dual Rear Wheels) were sold as a Cab & Chassis, or with factory installed flat and stake beds.
1980 was the first year that Ford offered an F350 pickup with DRW, Styleside only.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALL 500 and larger series trucks (all had DRW, some had tandem axles) were only sold as a Cab & Chassis.
There was no "back of cab" equipment available from Ford, so whatever bodies these trucks have, were installed by aftermarket body makers.

On the newer ford trucks there are several different widths, what you should do is measure your axle from hub to hub and find something close. Unless your going for a custom look, then buy what looks better to you.
I just noticed you said for your conversion, are you swapping from singles to duals? if so you need to measure for tire clearance to frame.

Just swapping duals to duals bolt pattern conversion mainly for the new wheel set up. Width wise not to worry that much cause it has a flat bed on it currently and going to make a newer version of the flat bed.
Beginning in 1973, there are two different widths between the inner frame rails behind the cab. 1961/72 F350's are 33 1/2."
1973 thru 1997 F350's could be 33 1/2" or 37 1/2."
Yeah, I am not to worried on the extra 4"s cause I will not have a bed on it for sometime. I have to get a axle first reman it back to almost new. Then draft up a design of what I am want for a bed lay out.
Best measure up between the inside duals. Something tells me the narrower frame is for the DRW so the inside dual has room. Frame to tire contact would spoil your day....

Wouldn't spoil my day to much. Would push my build to a different route. I am not really going by the book on this one. Not going for a restro on this it is more going to be a usual build.
