Went start my truck today (6.7) after it sat a week and all I got was starter grind. Re tried and it started fine. Normally I would pass it over as a fluke but I’m headed hunting for 10 days soon and don’t need issues. If it is a bad starter would warranty cover it? 23k on it
It would be covered under warranty. But if it's not doing it regularly, you won't get any love from the dealer on it. They have to be able to duplicate or witness the problem before they can fix it.
It depends upon precisely what the sound is like, but what could be considered starter grind could be the starter Bendix drive going out or the starter drive gear not engaging the flywheel teeth.
How does the computer respond when it grinds? Does it immediately cut the attempt to start or does it grind away until it decides the engine is not starting?
if the computer identifies it I would think the dealership could quickly verify.
...I am convinced its something to do with power supply with push button ignition.
Probably not. It should go without saying that the odds you got three bum starters are pretty extraordinary. I would be looking at a problem with the flywheel or the bellhousing.

it’s woulda kept going until I turned the key back.
Same here, I hit the button real quick to make it stop. But yes on mine, the truck was off and when I tried to start it, it made the grinding noise. Leading me to believe that the gear wasn't engaged to flywheel before it started spinning.
And like posted above, I didn't take it to the dealer bc it's not happening all the time, and I'm sure they can't do much with it until it does.
