First I’d like to think anyone for any help. I have a 1987 F150 130 thousand miles short bed that I recently purchased it has a bad Tremec T170 FT for speed overdrive, or three speed with overdrive, as I’ve heard it referred to that has a bad main shaft. I’m looking to swap out the transmission. I’ve been looking for a square body Ford for a while and this one is rust free so I thought it may be a good candidate. I do collision repair for a living and don’t really do a lot of mechanical work so it’s something to engage my mind as well. I’m kind of looking for the cheapest option being that I plan on doing some modifications to the truck later in the form of a four-wheel-drive conversion with a straight front axle. I figured I would drive the truck for a while as a 2 Wheel drive and kind of just need a direction to go with a bolt up transmission that I can keep my driveshaft anything else being that I just put a new clutch in it. Like I said before any help is kindly appreciated.
