Ok so I’ve got a 5.4l 2wd f150 and my rear end is completely blown up on the right side. So I’ve done a little research and I have a 12 bolt diff cover with 355 gears and it’s a 9.75 axle. The code on the door for axle is h9. Here’s where I get confused. I’m going to junkyard to salvage one and I’ve found several axles with the same h9 code but they have 10 bolt diff cover. I’m guessing it means those are 8.8 axles. But does that mean it’s still 355 gears? So at this point I’m not sure if that means I can use those rear ends? If not is there another axle code I can use instead of h9 if I can’t find that specific one.

It doesn't need to have 3.55 gears. This is a great opportunity to find one with 3.73's and limited slip. Or 3.55's and LS, if you don't want to change gearing.
Damn that’s nice to know. That definitely helps. I have ls already but I would definitely want 3.73 if I can find one. Is there any forums on finding the different axles that have that 12 bolt rear ends? Or is it just any 5.4l
The 8.8 does require a different driveshaft and brake lines, it's also not very strong. The 9.75 can be found everywhere and it shouldn't be harder than a phone call to find one. Try car-part.com
the H9 door code means 3.55 - Limit slip ...... so you don't need the door code unless you want the SAME gearing... All you want is the 12 bolt rear cover..... the 3.73 would have a DIFFERENT door code.
