Doing All Fluids: Quick Help
Hey guys, helping my dad get his truck back on the road. We are going to drain and fill all the fluids: so looking for recommendations on type and quantity.
Also we don't know what year the 302 is but we need an oil filter (we have a picture of the engine block stamp)
Engine: 302
Transmission: C4
Differential: 9"
Cooling System
We have read engine- 10w-30, C4- type f, 80w-90, green antifreeze?

The oil filter, if it is the big quart sized one is a Fram PH8A. I would use 15/w/40 or 20/'w/50 engine oil. 90 wt gear oil, read the transmission dipstick for automatic trans, Green coolant.

No 1961/66 came with a 302, so the engine has been swapped. Was the C4 also swapped and if so, from what?
1977 and later C4 & C6 used MERCON .. aka Dexron II

We don’t have definite details on what they came out of. But the engine block appears to be a 87 and the transmission is a late 60’s we are thinking but need to take a picture of the casting to be sure on that one.

You may find a trans ID tag bolted to the intermediate servo cover on the right side of the trans.
