Help with Engine info

I haven't posted on here in awhile, but I finally got the title to my 56 F100. So now I am trying to just get it to the point I can drive on a weekend or to a show or two. It does not have the original engine in it, I was told it has a 302 from a mustang. After doing some investigation I found the block casting number and it is C8OE-6015-A. Can anyone help me with this. On a few sites I checked I got different answers as to what it is. Any help appreciated!

C8 is 1968 from what I understand. Someone else may know more.

Everything I have found says it's a 302. If you had a pic we could ID it better.

From the Ford engine parts exchange book, C8OE is a 68-69 302.

The casting number is an engineering number for the block casting. All it identifies is the engineering was done in 1968, and the associated costs were charged internally to the Intermediate Division. It does not mean that is a 1968 engine. That casting number may have been used for several years in any model in the Ford/Mercury lineup that utilized the 302 engine. That's all there is to know there.
