Some Progress
I can telate to the pedestal leaking oil. I finally got all new an fitting to fonally run a legit line for my oil feed line.
I believe Ford switched to a double cardin joint in theblater years to eliminate a rumbling/vibration issue. I just had a custom new front shaft made by Ton Woods 4wd. Super nice and came quick.
That sucks about the front diff. That was a big concern when I did my rear. I used a crush sleeve eliminator as well. I think you needed to have a small amount of torque while turning the pinion to check preload.
I had issues routing my exhaust with a not stocknrear fuel tank. I just have it coming out in front of rear tires. Lame beacise that wheels always dirty now.
The guy before me has a camper on the bed. He had some brackets bolted to the frame with extensions coming out at each corner. Seemed like a nice setup. I'm pretty sure I scrapped them when I took them off though.
I was wrong about the crush sleeve eliminator; that ended up being on some different axles. This D60 pinion was originally shimmed for preload, but being my first axle rebuild, I destroyed just about every factory shim when I took the bearings off. So maybe I put the wrong combo back on? I ended up shelling out for a dial torque wrench for preload, and remember that being within spec, backlash was in spec, pattern looked good, etc. So after racking my brains and not remembering any big issues with the setup, it seems that maybe it was just the driveline that caused the grumbling.
@Edgethis what was your situation where you used the Wood's shaft? Was it in a F-350?
After reading all of the strife about the BW4407 yoke issues between 250's and 350's, I don't totally understand why a double cardan wouldn't fit my current 250 yoke. Or maybe it's just that a factory 350 shaft wouldn't bolt up, but a custom one would? Thoughts from you or anyone else who's navigated that would be swell.
