I've been through all the eBay listings and through all the vendor's websites.. So far the only truly correct one I've found is the regulator pictured in my original post.
You can see that the OEM part has FoMoCo stamped into the base, and has inked part number and date on the backside.
I would be happy to find an original take-off regulator, as I believe I could restore the base and cover and swap a modern regulator internals into the original Ford case.
Looks like FleaBay is your best bet if you need correct parts for appearance. NOS parts LTD, in Waxahachie gets new stuff once in a while as dealer imventory is bought out.
What are you working on? Are you doing a concours show restoration where you need the correct, original part? My catalog shows 2 different 51A regulators, one with an A suffix and one with H. Both were replaced with FAC 10505 A for '51 and used thru '55.
I'm not really building it as a "show" truck, but I enjoy doing factory restorations in the most detail that I can. I've found that a lot of the finer details don't always cost a lot of money.. They just take time and patience and a lot more work. But I really enjoy it, and everyone needs a hobby, right

Absolutely!
I totally understand your dotting I's and crossing T's attention to detail. I can be afflicted with the same bug sometimes. I'll take a look through my pile of stuff and see what I can find.
I bought a new regulator for my 55 F350 last summer. The base looked the same as the regulator I took off. I just put the old cover on the new regulator. Nobody knows the difference.
