Low/no compression, stuck valve, bent pushrod, broken rocker could cause an issue. When it is running, pull the oil cap off. Does it have alot of blow by?
When you crank it with just the starter trigger wire near the fire wall to the battery, does it crank evenly?

I would also think swapping two injectors to see if the problem stays or follows the injector.

Hydrolocked maybe?
Pull the glow plugs and stand clear of the holes when you try to crank it over.
The reason to stand clear is any liquid in the cylinders will come out under
very high pressure and can damage eyes or even skin.
