Fuel consumption
Educate me, on dually's and oversize tires. Do you have an issue with the dually rears on width? What about height? I have a '20 F 450 on order, I would have opted for a 4:10 if I could have, I don't need a 4:30 axle, but I can cheat it by going to a taller tire.
stock it would get 7.4mpg towing my 13,000lb 5th wheel at 70mph.
stock unloaded at 70mph = 16mpg
Fully deleted, 75hp tune, & CAI now and get 9.8mpg towing the same 5th wheel at 70mph
Deleted unloaded and get 19mpg at 70mph
ive walked RV parks and talked to dozens and dozens of 17+ SD PS about their fuel mileage while towing their 5th wheels. everyones mpg is all over the map. Guys with much heavier trailers then i have claiming 11,12,13mpg while towing. Others with lighter trailers getting worse then i do.
I think it has a lot to do with the aero drag of the trailer and not so much the weight of the trailer.
Wanna test the theory: Start a thread asking for mpg on Superdutys and watch how as time goes by the mpg increases until you get guys that are getting 25 mpg hauling 35,000 lbs at 80 mi an hour. You can see this in any Forum devoted to a single car group. Jeeps, Corvettes etc.
I can hit in the 20's at 70 mph. I live at 1720 El, and drove the 35-40 mi S on I 10 to about 550 EL, down hill all the way. Going back home it offsets itself, LOL.
