Shocks are a tired subject on this forum so my apologies but I am wondering if there has been any change to the suspension components with the 2020's. My guess is no but since I have ordered an F350 CCLB with a 12,400 GVWR I started wondering what they did to get the 900 more pounds over the previous model. Maybe just a paper change. I was thinking about ordering a new set of shocks for the truck but maybe I need to hold off.
I did look for Bilstein 4600 but for some odd reason the website only lists them for the 1898 thru 1997 F350. WTH????? Anyone know if Bilstein makes a 4600 for the Ford SD's? Anyone tried them?
I did change the shocks on my KR to the Ranch 9000XL's about a year and a half and 20K miles ago. I kept the original shocks and have thought about putting them back on and using the XL's on the new truck, if they will fit. I would only do that if I wind up trading. If I sell the truck myself I will leave them on. Still debating that issue.
The 2020 SDs are a little lower in ride height but I see ReadyLift now lists their kits 2017-2020 so it probably isn't changed beyond lower blocks or springs. I've been thinking about a level kit and 35s. I think we are going to wait for them to hit the lots before we see if anything changed.
The new 12400 lbs. GVWR spec appears to only apply to the F350 SRW 4X4 CCLB with the optional 6.7 Diesel engine and optional 18” AT- or 20” tires.
The corresponding maximum standard FAWR and standard RAWR specs (5600 lbs. and 7230 lbs. respectively) appear to have not changed. IMHO , this upgrade appears to be a paper change that recognizes the additional weight of the optional 6.7 Diesel rests mostly on the front suspension and tires and therefore doesn’t significantly affect the rear-end’s load capacity.

Thanks for the Bilstein info. There must have been a problem with their website or something. I could not get past the year.
Funny that SDcrewzer and I used the exact same quote. I had the part numbers already loaded in my notes file.
I'm undecided between ordering the 4600's or the 5100's for my F250. I had the 5100's on my F150 and loved them. I believe the internals are the same as the 4600's but the 5100's are valved a bit stiffer. The 5100's will require a front leveling but I've already lowered the rear 1-1/2" with pre-'17 blocks. If I go with the 5100's I'll use the Rough Country or Carli 1-1/2" front springs instead of a spacer.
I can't find much information, but I was looking to get the bilstein 5100s for my truck. Im thinking part 24-274951 and 24-274968. Will these work with the fx4 package?

Im pretty sure those are the correct shocks, the same that some others recently purchased for their 17-19's. FX4 package has nothing to do with what shocks will fit.

I put the 4600's on my 14000gvw CC Dually. It has the snow plow prep also. They are a huge improvement over the junk factory shocks. I changed them at 15k and the stock ones would collapse pretty easily and not rebound fully for about a minute or so. Well worth the money. I'm waiting for them to release their SS this summer.
Also have a 2020 and havn't been able to clarify if the smaller rear blocks in the rear of the 2020's will cause issues with the recommended 17-19 shocks at full compression. I don't want to bottom out the shock before the bump stop is engaged, etc. Anyone have insight on this issue? I'm interested in maintaining stock height.

Correct me if I'm wrong I thought the ride height for the F350 is same as the 17-19 so the shocks should be the same. I think it was the F250 that got lowered a bit.
I wound up with Fox 2.0 shocks. They had a listing for the 2020 models which I'm pretty sure was the same as the 17-19. I had them on hand before I got my truck on 12-31. I installed them the next day and have not noticed any issues with bottoming out. I'm not sure how I would know anyway. The empty ride is very controlled and much smoother than my previous 17 F350 dually. Our fifth wheel has about 3200 pounds of hitch weight and have done a couple of short tows. I was pleased with the ride and the handling. I did install a set of SumoSprings on the rear which should prevent any bottoming out, I think.
I just put Bilstein 5100's on my 2020 F350 6.7L CCSB FX4.
The part numbers are:
Front: 24-274951
Rear: 24-274944
Fit perfectly, no issues with bushing sizes or anything like that. Did it with the truck on ramps, a floor jack and a narrow (1") block of wood was really helpful to compress them up into place to get the lower bolt in once the upper was mounted.
Like the ride and handling, had them on my 2012 FX4 with the fake Ranchos, made a huge difference, honestly I do think the 2020 shocks, no longer fake Ranchos, are a lot better than they used to be, but I did change them at 1800 miles, so didn't give them a chance to wear out.
Semi off topic however about to put a dual stabilizer kit on my 2020, you guys think the stock shock could stay or pair it with the same brand of stabilizer? So essentially there would be 3 up front. Or is that over kill. I don't off road and will never lift just looking to add life to the front end parts, better ride, and hopefully prevent the infamous "death wobble" Probably gonna go bilstein, fox is crazy money.
