When I looked this truck the pin in this picture wasn’t there and the sleeve was still in there. The salesman said it was, “pressed in”. Is that normal? I thought this was a three inch hitch. If I test drive tomorrow, take another, new, pic.
The factory reducing sleeves that I've seen fit very loosely in the hitch receiver. Mine was loose enough that I chose to replace it rather than use it. Are you sure that you weren't looking at the reinforcing band/ring that's on the hitch receiver and think that you were looking at a reducer inside the hitch?
My 2017 F350 is a 2 1/2 inch receive with the sleeve in it to reduce it down to 2 inch. I know some of them have 3 inch receivers with 2 reducers but I am not sure what option you need to have to get the 3 inch receiver.
My 2019 is a 3 inch with a 2 1/2 inch reducer that was pretty sloppy, I ended up buying an adjustable hitch with a 3 inch shank so I wouldn't have to use 2 reducers to get down to a 2 inch shank.
That's a 3" hitch with a 2.5" reducer. When I purchase my 2017 F250 with max tow it came with two reducers, one bringing it down to 2.5" and another to bring it down to 2".
I just had the hitch replaced due to some jerk rear ending me so the insurance company replace the hitch as a safety measure. New hitch came with the 2.5" reducer only. Go figure.
My 2017 F350 CCSB Diesel came with a 3” receiver and 2 sleeves, a 3”-2.5” and a 2.5-2.0”
My 2019 F350 CCSB Diesel came with a 2.5” receiver and NO sleeves.
BTW, i didn’t put the pin back in after towing and lost the 2.5-2.0” sleeve.
