Demco Hijacker Autoslide 21K DM8550038 install pictures F-350 SB

I wanted to share a couple of pictures on the Demco Autoslider for those who might be considering this option.
I installed on the middle setting 16 3/4". I have not hooked up the Montana 3710 yet so I may need to adjust.
I used one of the thicker spacers on each side for the ford factory prep on the F-350 CC SB SRW 4x4.
I can close the tonneau cover with the hitch head installed.

Looks like a quality hitch.

Very nice! That's the hitch I went with one year ago, and it's holding up well. One thing you might do, is put a light coat of grease on your king pin. Before I did that, I was having troubles getting the hitch to fully close when backing into it. I think it was sticking. Don't need much since the king pin doesn't pivot with this hitch.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ordered a tube of Lucas Oil 10030 Fifth Wheel Lubricant earlier today.
I ordered a lube plate and when I put things together I realized there was no way it would work with the MOR/ryde locking plate.

If you are running with mor/ryde pinbox, and you ordered and installed the demco adapter for it, you can remove the side clamps for standard pinboxes.

I was wondering about that. I was looking at the adapter plate with the channels and wondering why you would need those side clamps.
Thanks for that info.

Thanks for sharing Siriustoo. What tonneau cover do you have? Please keep us updated when you hook up your 5er.

Looks good! I went with the Demco Autoslide in my 2016 F-350 last year. Love it.

Why do you have to use the Adapter Plate with the Mor/Ryde Pin Box and Demco Autoslide? Wouldn't the Side Capture Plates work just as well?

Because Demco requires it. The torsional forces put on the morryde pin will cause damage to its sliding mechanism. My buddy just bought the same hitch from the dealer he got his TH from, and they forgot the capture plate. He tells me that pin twists something terrible when turning corners. He has the capture plate on the way. The kit comes with some additional nylon blocks that stiffen the lateral motion while allowing the pin to still perform it's shock absorbing function.

I think it is related to the rubber mounts. Without the locking plate the rubber mounts would be subject to twisting which over time could cause problems. It has the added advantage of allowing for hookup when slightly out of alignment and no adjusting the side pins required.

Thanks, after looking at how the Mor/Ryde pinbox was constructed I kind of figured it was due to the torsional/twisting motion being placed on the Pin box Shear Spring.

What was the final Demco height setting that worked for your Montana?

On my Jayco, with a Lippert 1621 pin box, I settled on the middle Demco height setting and lowered the pin box one setting from factory. Gives me right at 6" clearance at the tailgate on 2019 250 CCSB 4x4.
