83' Custom 4.9L/4sp
My rear window works with the key but not the dash switch. The fuse was blown so I replaced it, the window was in the down position, I pushed the dash switch up the window made a slight movement and the fuse blew. Any thoughts?
I would start with reviewing the Tailgate Tech first to understand the control circuit for the rear window motor. http://www.supermotors.net/registry/2742/12689-2
Then use the process of elimination to find the cause of the fuse blowing. I suspect that there is a wire that is pinched or has an insulation breakdown that is causing your problem. It should be easy to find once you determine the wire(s) that are being used when the fuse blows.
Sorry but it just isn't as easy as pointing to the nail in the tire causing the flat.
Burners thank you for the reply. The problem was mice. I found two wires going to the rear window that were stripped of all insulation between the fuel tank and the frame that area is closed off and makes a good shelter for the little pest. I dropped the tank spliced the wires, three in all, wrapped them in plastic armor, and the window worked fine.
