Guys,
I have been attempting to get these connectors off without damaging them or the fire wall. What is the proper way to get these to pull out of the firewall? Looks as if there are some metal clips, not sure if a guy has to bend them out of the way? firewall harness connector
Yes, you'd just have to press in all four of the metal clips at the same time. I've had luck sometimes doing two on one side enough to slip them through then the two on the other side and it falls inward.
I just did this. Easier with help. Get someone with small screwdriver on engine compartment side. They'll press the tabs gently while you are pushing on plug under dash ..do one side at a time and kind of rock the plug side to side. Not sure how I'd do it without extra hands engine side. Hope ths helps
Hey guys, appreciate the response. Both were very helpful. I attempted it by myself however, I ended up askin the boss (wife) to lend a hand. They came right out!
A couple of pics for those whom may need to know. The metal clip wraps completely around the connector plug. I mention this for I thought the clip may push to the side or something. Would have ended bustin something up.
Thanks again, Hammy Used this screw driver to just push in between the two small clips, third hand pulled in and down on the driver side. Metal clip seems to be one piece, wrapped around the connector. Must remove with connector.
Found that when I attempted to straighten the 'dog eared' retainer pins a couple broke off so I searched the internet and found replacements although they are for 65/66 Mustang application and not for pickups they worked for me?
Dave, I have been looking for this connecters every where, would you please direct me where I can locate them
Yep, I have been sitting in the dark past the past 4 days, I can not complain considering there are FTE members in SoCal who have to run for their lives and hope for the best with regards to their home and property. I thoughts are with them!!
These clips are for 65-66 Mustang and not for Ford truck but as I mentioned, worked for me? I placed the clip on the connector first then inserted it into the opening and held it in place while helper bent the pins. I hope they work or U, would be interested if they do perhaps other members can use in a pinch.
