I'm trying to find a good aluminum replacement radiator for my 1978 F250 with 4.9L / 300 with no AC and no transmission cooler, but it's harder than I thought. Most places I look at are all offering the V8 models. My fabrication skills are pretty minimal, so I'd like to keep with a radiator designed for my engine / front end.
Can someone tell me if they've had to find 6cyl radiator and had the same troubles? Or if it's possible to mod a V8 radiator and how much work that might be? Or the original part number so I can track stuff down that way? ND, you got this one?
When I needed a rad back in June, after reading countless threads and studying up on them I decided on a Champion but couldn’t find one anywhere. I ended up ordering a 3 row aluminum rad from D2 performance off eBay and it has been great so far. No leaks, no overheating, driving or in traffic. I have a ‘77 F250 with AC and Trans cooling. I feel like they had a rad for a lot of different options. In June it was $160. I did buy an upgraded Stant 13 psi cap for it though. Looked similar to this...
Also... I've got a manual T18 tranny and a lot of these radiators come with a trans oil cooler that I don't need. Does the cooler come attached to the radiator? Is it easy to delete? Thanks!
