Hi folks, I need to see if I missed something when trying to diagnose a squeak that sounds like a creeky step. ‘93 F-250 M/T 4x4
It sounds like the right front of the truck, and is only audible at 35mph and below (at at least thats the only time I can hear or notice it). 90% of it is when im off the accelerator and just coasting, a little when braking but no change to the noise or how loud it is.
The truck has
-fresh brakes, fluid, etc etc
- new wheel bearings (I probably put a little too much grease in, but hey, ive never seen too much packed grease cause a problem)
- all fittings greased up front
- driveshafts and Ujoints were professionally redone Christmas of ‘17 and have maybe MAYBE 20k on them.
- Diff, T-case and Trans all have fresh fluid, and were checked out by a shop, all OK.
Fresh belt, pulleys all seem okay, no real issues. Save for a small coolant leak thats my fault. Ill fix that this winter.
I also can’t find rub points, the hubs aren’t locked in, the brakes aren’t grabbing (had them seize/lockup before, been there done that, this has zero similarities to that thus far), and I feel like maybe the axle is having issues? It is the twin I-beam after all.
Any ideas? Anything to look for that could have been overlooked? Could the suspension be sqeaking? I did put a ranchhand bumper up front.
Can you get some WD-40 or other lube to the bushings / pivot points? Do one area at a time and if the squeak goes away you can narrow it down. Yes, it sounds silly, but it does not cost much.

That I can do. Honestly that concept totally slipped my mind.
