Yeah...Summit says the estimated ship date is 10/17(see attached)
. When I called and asked when the stock would be available for Summit to ship out he said, "We have no date for when or If we will be receiving this stock. The date is a placeholder."
That's pretty stupid. these are not rare boosters the only thing I can imagine is whoever makes the diaphrams is behind on orders. truth be told most of these obsolete parts only have 1 or 2 manufacturers.
Sounds like it's watch ebay if you need one now . been there a million times.
Yes sir. Thanks for pointing that out. Very much appreciated mikeo0o0o0. And thanks to everyone on here who helps with their contributions for the betterment of these fine Ford Trucks.

Thank you. But Bill is still the champion on FTE when it comes to routing out NOS parts and part numbers.

As these trucks get older, the demand for replacement parts slows down. On low demand items, what most rebuilders do is they'll figure how much demand there is for a particular part for, say, the next year and then they rebuild that many. If they sell out early, they might make another run but more than likely, you'll have to wait for the next round of rebuilding. If the demand is low enough, they might not rebuild any more at all and they discontinue that part number.
Sounds like a bad brake booster.
My 79 F150 has sat for the past 9 months undriven, it’s only used for hauling wood in the fall and winter.
Got in it Monday and the pedal dropped to the floor continuously, no fluid leaks, but could hear a hissing sound inside the cab. “Diaphragm was leaking”
I discovered that no auto parts store had a booster for a 79 and was told that there’s been a shortage of cores.
Cardone is a company that will rebuild your existing booster and ship it back, however, they only work with O’Riellys, Napa and Advance auto.
With that said it was going to be at least a week getting it from the parts store to Cardone, a week at their facility and another week for the store to get it back from their distribution center.
Elongated holes
Hopefully you’ll be able to find a replacement. I needed my truck and didn’t have time to wait or pay for a high dollar used replacement off eBay.
It’s getting hard to find 40 year old trucks in salvage yards with good parts left on them yet. I was at one of our salvage yards and found that a 1997 Expedition brake booster was closest to my 79.
The only modification I had to make was elongating the mounting holes in my brackets due to the bolt spacing being smaller and moving the master cylinder forward about 4” due to the booster being a dual diaphragm version which is easily done with the slack in the lines.

One more comment I failed to make when I posted previously, the expedition booster has a slight slope to its rear mounting plane, it actually allows the master cylinder to set slightly more level than the stock 79 booster.
The “tail shaft” on the booster was the same length as the stock 79 also, with the exception of not having the hooked end. It bolted up without issues to the brake pedal.
If you use the expedition booster I would highly recommend getting the mounting nuts with it when your at the salvage yard, the 97 booster threads are metric.
I failed to get them and had to re-threaded some existing nuts I had laying around and solved the problem.
The 1997 Expedition booster cost me 30.00 plus tax.
