Does anyone use a portable sand blaster? I'm wanting to blast my frame and then paint it and I'm wondering how well a portable sand blaster would work? Does rental companies rent an AC and blaster together? I'm blasting my 68 and someday when I get that done, I'll do my 68 IH so I plan on doing a lot of blasting.
IMHO, with the cost of the blaster 7 media, (vs the amount of future use), I would really look at having a dustless blaster guy come out...they mix the media with water so there is very little airborne mess and they can also ad an anti rust additive that good for a few days to make your life easier.....
Talk to him first. I just used them for some rusty cast iron parts. He did a great job, for a good price but the finish was really rough. For sheet metal it'd take a 100 coats of primer to get smooth. I'm sure there are different grits, just talk to him first. BTW, the media is glass.
