I have a 1991 f250 frame I was planning on sandblasting and painting. I want to use POR-15 is there anything I should watch out for or do before I paint it? The frame is going to be for my 93 f150. I've heard you should paint over the POR what paint did you use?
Well, from what I've been told, you don't need to sand (soda) blast a rusted frame with POR15. It is designed to be sprayed right over the rust and whatever chemical is in it supposedly stops further oxidization. POR 15 is designed to be the coating, the paint, that is exposed to the air, supposedly it actually gets stronger if you DO NOT paint over it.
that's what i was going to say as well.if your doing the best prep possible (sand blasting) then don't bother using a paint designed to paint over rust.use a quality primer/paint of your choice.
i like that valspar enamel as well.im having my commercial wood chipper fixed up/welded/other fixes and finally going to have it sand blasted.im thinking of bed liner on the thing to hide all it's imperfections.
