I changed every exterior bulb on my 2017 in early 2018. Recently pulled them all out when I traded the truck and put all of the bulbs into my 2019.
The Alla switchback LED front turn signals that I used had to have a little bit of material ground off to make them fit more snugly into the sockets. Reading these forums it seems that many of us had to make this modification. It worked OK and the bulbs never popped out in over a year & a half of use in my 2017. I've had them in the 2019 for almost 2 weeks now.
Yesterday I happened to be backing out of the driveway in a different vehicle and noticed the bulb laying inside of the housing. It had come out of the socket. I fished it out with a screwdriver and 2 sided tape. Glad that worked because I really didn't want to remove the grille and headlight assembly. Been down that road in the 2017. I was able to push the bulb back into the socket and gave it one wrap of electrical tape to secure it. Not an ideal situation but will work for the time being.
Reports on the forum show that this is an issue with several brands of bulb. Has anyone found a brand of switchback LED that will snap securely into these sockets with out shaving material off of the base?
I went with what everyone else was doing and did 3157 bulbs for my turn signals and shaved off the nubs. However, what Ford is using is 4257NA bulbs... you can substitute 7444NA LED bulbs and they snap right in, no mods.

But are they switchback? I emailed SuperBright LED this morning to see what they have to say. I have some of their products and like them. They've always replied to me in the past.

yes switchbacks.
The other thing I didn’t understand was everyone taking apart the entire grille to change bulbs... what’s up with that?

Well, when I was brand new at it I'll admit to removing the grille and the headlight assemblies. Glad those days are over. I popped in all 4 headlights, 2 turn signals and the front side marker lights in 20 minutes or so without removing anything but the air breather snorkel this time around. Experience is a great teacher.

A turn signal changed to most any LED that doesn't have a resistor someplace will likely cause hyperflash. I set up the BCM in my truck to eliminate that via FORScan.
Admittedly, Amazon's charts says they do not fit 2019's. But other information says that the 7444 NA does indeed work in a 2019 and these bulbs are purported to replacements for 7443 and 7444NA.
Not remotely close to snapping in securely. I pushed as hard as I dared but no go. The return process is taking place now.
A SuperBright LED email reply says that they've had no customer complaints about their switchback for these trucks so a pair should be here tomorrow. Theirs are 3157s.
Well, so much for the iBrightstar from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The 3157 “fits” but needs modified and doesn’t snap in. I then installed the 7444NA and they snapped in. It’s my understanding 7444NA is different than 7444A and is a proper cross reference to the 4257NA incandescent bulbs that were originally installed. Maybe not...

Actually had a factory incandescent go bad in my 2017 just before I traded it a couple weeks ago. Had to special order it from NAPA. That was a 7444NA.
If that holds true, Superbright will get them back just like Amazon did. Mainly because they plainly stated in their email reply that there have been no customer complaints with their bulb in these trucks.
The bulbs I'm returning to Amazon have the following item description, which I find to not really be true. As soon as I removed my hand after trying to push the bulbs in they'd have fallen right out.
iBrightstar Extremely Bright 3030 Chipsets 7443 7444NA Switchback LED Bulbs with Projector Replacement for Daytime Running Lights/DRL and Turn Signal Lights,White/Amber

No go for me with 3157's. Even shaving the nubs off, the base was the tiniest fraction too wide for the socket. Didn't fit securely and stretched that socked just enough that it would not fit into the headlight housing. In fact one bulb fell out and into the headlight housing as soon as I began to push the socket into the housing. That's another story but I was finally able to fish it out.
I don't expect a refund or any other recompense from Superbright, as I altered the bulbs. I am, however disappointed that they told me ahead of time that these bulbs would snap right in and that they'd never had a customer complaint about these bulbs with this particular application. And they most assuredly did not ever mention the nubs being a problem.
I reinstalled the Alla LED switchbacks I had. Not as secure as they should be but a wrap or two of electrical tape and they're good. Why is it so hard to find a bulb that will snap into place without modifying the base? Ford got the incandescents someplace, someone else should be able to come up with a suitable LED replacement.
I would think that the turn signal current control strategy would need to be changed in the BCM from Pulse Width Modulation to direct current for those trucks that originally came with incandescent turn signals. It sounds like this is what Ponch450 was able to do with ForScan, instead of with an IDS.
