E4OD hard shifting
My dad has a 97 ford f250 powerstroke diesel, I believe this is the second transmission he's put in the truck (he didn't put it in recently) it has almost 300k miles and the transmission upshifts hard and downshift hard sometimes, He was towing a pretty heavy load with it when it started shifting hard

Maybe I'll take a guess. You want to know if something is wrong? Read the codes. Everything starts with reading the codes.
I use a $25 ELM OBD-II connector and a free version of Forscan. I don't have a '97 diesel to make sure it works on that, but it works on all other Fords.
