Pcv valve/vacuum port question help.

I recently acquired a 1987 f150 with a 4.9 efi. Ive owned and worked on these trucks before but its been a long time. While tuning it up i replaced the pcv valve. The old one only had one port which was the hose that goes to the crank case. The new one has that larger port and a smaller one. It also came with a small plastic plug that fits in the smaller port. Should there be another hose on the smaller port or do i plug it? Also, i have this port open (in the picture), does anyone know what it should be hose-d to?

From my understanding, the dual ports are for different applications. Some applications might just use one port, and other applications might use both.
Ford made both styles of PCV and would equip the vehicle with whichever was the correct one, whereas aftermarket parts manufacturers want to keep things simple and make a single replacement part that fits as many applications as possible.

So, if you originally only used one port, then just hook up one port and cap the other one off.

As for your vacuum port, I can't help you there as I've never worked on an EFI 4.9. But, definitely cap it off until you get it figured out so you don't have a leak.

The open port behind the throttle body (there are two ports... check the other side of the throttle body) is for the vapor system from the gas tank. There should be a black "box" (vapor canister) between the battery and the radiator. It should have vacuum lines that run to the ports at the throttle.

On the older carbed motors that small port on the PCV valve is where the canisters hook up and get its vacuum from.
