PCV valve question. 92 Explorer

I just change the valve cover gaskets and was putting everything back together when I noticed that the PCV valve on the 92 Explorer has two ports. I can't seem to locate what goes into the second (top) port. I went to autozone to make sure the correct PCV valve was installed and they sell the two port PCV valve also but it comes with a plug that looks like it would plug the top port. Is there a second hose that goes to the top port that I misplaced when I took everything apart? Or is the top port blocked? Can someone who has a 92 or similar check to see if only one hose goes to the PCV valve? If there is a second hose, can someone let me know where it comes from? The first hose is straight from the intake manifold right above the pcv valve. Thanks for the help.

Do you have a vacuum diagram sticker under the hood? If yours uses that extra port, it should show on there.

I had a similar experiance with my 1993 XLT automatic. I bought the PCV valve from Autozone then looked high & low trying to locate the double connection. I then confirmed that it was in the valve cover & guess what? Only one large hose connection & only one connection on the valve itself. My guess is that the valve we bought at Auto zone fits many applications but that the factory original only uses that one larger hose connection.

I figured only one port was used. I also looked at the vacuum diagram under the hood and only one hose goes to the PCV valve. The last person to change it (last owner) left the top one open. Who knows what's been sucked through that little hole for who knows how long. Anyway I'm going to Autozone and buying the single port PCV valve, it's not like they don't make them in the correct size (it's just not listed in the book for some odd reason). Thanks for the help guys.

They make them, but last time I checked Autozone carried only the universal one. If the PCV valve is metal, you can pull that two port plastic section off. Then it fits nicely with existing hose.
