Anyone know if there is an easy way to disable the Keyless Numeric Keypad on the driver's door exterior? Anyone make a hidden switch that can be accessed by the owner when/if needed, but leaves the keypad offline otherwise?
What is the consensus on vulnerabilities with our electronic keyless entry (keyfobs included) and operation of the SD line of vehicles?
Just trying to assess any weak points as I'd like to keep my truck.
Best advice, keep the insurance deductible low. Other than that there is plenty of other easy access points. You can pop the door key cylinder it two seconds and gain entry.
I agree with the others; no need to disable the keypad entry device. It is FAR harder to defeat that system than just pop the lock mechanically. Any thief knows this.
However, in the "pure" sense of answering your questions, you can deactivate the keypad via the BCM using ForScan, but it's not a method that can be manipulated via a simple external switch such as what you want. It's a program change that can be done easily, but requires hooking up a computer and altering programming every time you'd want it on or off. Not at all worth the grief.

Insurance is not going to care if you disable your keypad or not.
