I have a 2004 F-150 Lariat on order. It is due in any day now. I got it for $200 over invoice, Ford and Kelley Blue Book. That is with the FDAF deliverey and fuel fee added in. My dealer just told me there is also a customer loyalty rebate of $1000 that I will get because I own a 97 or newer Ford Supercab. It is also available on a 97 or newer Regular cab. And you don't have to trade it in, just show proof that someone in the family has one. I think it is a good deal. I am happy with it anyway.

What's the fuel fee some have referred to?
I don't see it on my i.nvoice quote.

It does not show up until they print the factory invoice. I will not show on the ford web site or Kelley blue book etc. It is a fee Ford adds for a tank of gas. Mine was $45.

That's what I suspected it was. Maybe that is more dealer specific.
Our last new vehicle, a Jeep, the first tank was included.

The tank is full when you get it. It's just that you have already paid for it and didn't know it. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

I remember they pointed out when we closed that the first tank was on them.
Sometimes I see that advertised too.

I thought maybe it was a "gas guzzler" tax or something.

That is a misleading advertising ploy. A dealership owner once told me " I sell cars, I don't sell gas".

They can contract for fuel rates like any large company or fleet. It's and easy selling point if you ask me.
When I was 16 I used to work at an Exxon station near a Chevy dealership, and they would send new car buyers over with a voucher.

IF I'm buying a new truck....I would expect a tank of gas with it!!! Not for the dealer to charge me for it!

The dealer is not charging you for it. Ford is charging for it and the dealer is passing it along.

No such thing as a free lunch. Dealers used to sell cars with just a few gallons of gas in them. The first thing you had to do when you picked it up was to stop at a gas station. Then a few started filling the tanks, now all have to to compete but you are going to pay for it one way or another. Either with a gas charge or some other hidden charge. Like it or not that's how it is.

I was jsut reading in another post by 1956MarkII that the gas charge is something the factory charges the dealer to put "some" gas in the vehicle, and that's what is being passed on to the buyer. Not saying your wrong chasparham just using another source of information. Thanks for you info. I suppose it can be a combination of both.
