anyone buying below invoice?

Yes and No.... The way I understand it, is that Ford charges the dealer for the little bit of gas they put in the truck for trans form the factory to the delivery truck and off the delivery truck to the dealer. That is not for the dealer's built in price to charge the buyer for a tank of gas. I know both ideals have been discussed.

I don't mind the gas charge. Like I said years ago the first thing you would do was stop and put in gas. You pay either way. It's just the cost of buying. I just paid off the house and the wife's 99 Taurus back in July. That's the only reason I can afford a new truck. I am going to keep my 97 XLT though. What I don't like is $46.44 in a 27 gallon tank figures out at $1.72 a gallon. A bit high if you ask me. Regular unleaded goes for around $1.22-1.29 a gallon around here. Premium is just $0.20 more. $1.72 is more than premium and I'm sure Ford buys at wholesale.

Guys-
Hopefully people won't put up with this ....stuff..
What next- $50 charge for putting air in the tires.
As I said before, I worked at a dealership 6 years ago and they are very creative about getting your money.
I know you think that Ford is charging you for this particular case- but putting a gallon or two of gas in the car is part of the assembly line process.
I ordered a hamburger at McDonalds today and they charged me $2 plus 25 cents for delivery...
See what happens when you let people get away with this....

Your right!- you pay for it either way.
But why do they list it instead of just giving you a flat cost of $30,000 for a car with no add on fees?
The answer is just to complicate the process so that the dealer/manufacture can slip things past you- and at the same time make it sound like their cars are cheaper than they really are.
Neither reason is good for the buyer.

Most folks believe that a Dealership makes alot of money on NEW Vehicles. This Topic proves that.
Where Dealerships REALLY make ALOT of Money is on TRADE INs!
The mark up on Dealerships USED Cars is HUGE !!
Alot of Dealerships try to "steal" away YOUR Vehicle from you.
They want to pay as LITTLE as possible for YOUR Vehicle just like the Customer wants to pay as LITTLE as possible for their Vehicle.
Salesman like start by offering you AUCTION Price for your Trade In. BE CAREFUL for on the Price you are offered for YOUR Vehicle! Know the REAL Value of it BEFORE the Deal you Negotiate!
Also, keep in mind the Mileage and Condition of your Vehicle as well. Be SURE to Detail it BEFORE you go to the Dealership!
Bottom line is... DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

Here's another great website....
This shows the 2003 F150 as an EXCELLANT Value. The 2004 should be in the same "ballpark" hopefully.
