I'm glad this was brought up with some people to back it up. I don't always trust Amazon reviews, I have had the innovia in my amazon cart for about 2 months now lol.
For another viewpoint - I bought a flaming river el-cheapo, it runs on 2 "D" cells. No bells whistles, doesn't need a wi-fi connection or blue teeth or anythang. It works just fine for curving a distributor, just have to install a timing degree tape on the balancer out to 50° or so. It was about $50 or so.

My FR light was not bright enough to see the marks on my drag car at the track.
Reminds me I should pull the batteries if they have not leaked as I have not used it in about 10 years.
