What would you do?
I can only agree with what the Bible says about life-"it's but a vapor, here one moment and gone the next"
Be that as it may, anyone's number can be up at any time. Someone as healthy as a horse could be struck down in an auto accident. It happens everyday.
I guess I'd have to agree with those who live life to the fullest. Go with the big dreams like Dan (pilot) or Ron (shark bait lol). Make the most of what you know you(anyone) do have.
Love everyone.Because most disagreements between people are really petty things. And people really need love.
I would take as much time as possible to enjoy the very best things in this life such as a baby holding your finger, or the touch of a caring friend, or sharing a sunset with someone you love. In the over-all scheme of things, a man is most fulfilled when he's brought joy to others. Whether by providing love, security, and comfort for his family, or by fixing the little-kid-down-the-street's bike.
Money, fame, or power are little and unimportant things.
Having said that it disturbs me to hear about your condition. Even though we've only talked on these boards, I feel I've become friends with most of the guys and gals here. Even my wife will sometimes ask me-"What did Mil1ion say?" or, "Did Icelander reply to your post?" You and I see things along the same lines, along with others here, and I for one, can say you have made an impact on your world.
Please keep us updated on your condition. My family and I will keep you in our prayers. God Bless.
Chuck
its taken me a while to respond to your post cauz i really dont know what to say. i thank you for the kind words and tell your wife i said hi and thank you also. my friend is the one thats really doing all of the things you mentioned, she has a little girl to be mommy for and is fighting this thing hard! the diffeence between me and her is, she knows whats wrong and has taken steps to treat it. i dont have any solid answers yet. Dennis said that he has been dealing with his condition for 16 years now and they still keep changing his diagnosis.
i love everyone in my life with all that i am and treat everyday as a gift. ive done more things in my 26 years than most will do in a lifetime. like my girlfriend for example: we have been toghether through thick and thin for over two years now. everyday i open her eyes to something new and its great! i brought home a bag of salted in the shell peanuts last year(i just saw them on the shelf, hadnt had any in a while and grabbed them) and she didnt know what to do with them! she'd never had them! she's a very educated woman and one of the best accountants in greater cleveland! not only that but she's 5 years older than me. she had never gone camping either. now, she cant get enough of camping! there are literaly hundreds of other examples but this is getting long.
bottom line: this will not change my life, only alter it slightly. i have alot more to do and alot more stuff i want to show my future wife. one of the things on my very short "to do" list is get married and have a family. nothing short death will stop me from that! :-)
i have a "aquaintance" / not so close friend who has had MS for a long time now, it still doesnt stop him from spending time with his friends or going to the race track with his '74 camaro.
due to an injury i was nearly blinding in my right eye 4 years ago, i thought it was the end of the world but i still got my class A driving license, could have passed for the Army, i get by just fine day to day, and i VERY easily switched from shooting my firearms right handed to left handed due to the vision. i can out-shoot the average person with my Colt AR-15, without a scope at 100-200 yards, even when up against people with scoped rifles....
keep your chin up, dont let something this little slow you down one bit.
