hey i have a f750 im working on for a guy doing general maintenance, already know it has a 385 series block in it of unknown displacement. not much is known on this truck and ive only worked on it a few hours doing plugs,wires tp40 module replacement fixing vacuum leaks. i just got ahold of the vin and was wondering if someone knows how to decode on these larger industrial trucks,not as easy to decode as some of our light duty trucks lol. f70evx88739 thank yall!

Please ask further questions in the LARGE TRUCK forum, most members of this forum have pickups.
Decoding the larger trucks is the same as decoding an F100, the Warranty Plate is the same, so all the codes are located in the same place.
First 3 digits of the VIN on this truck...decode to an F700 .. If it was an F750, the VIN would begin F75.
F70 = F700 (gas) // E = 361 2V or 4V FT engine // V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant // X88739 = 1975.
1979 was the first year for 385 series V8's (370 & 429) in 600 and larger series trucks. 1964/78's came with FT engines that look similar to FE engines.
alright will do,thanks for the reply. i came up with the same thing as far as being a 700 and a ft motor but now im starting to wonder if we have a case of switched vins from the previous owner as it has the 750 badge and a 385 block for sure. odd stuff
So. I guess i am a little confused. The name of the forum is 1973-1979 F100 and larger f-series trucks. While the title is vague, his ultimate question seems appropriate. The chassis data may be best suited for the large truck forum but the data plates may be better broke down here. The large truck forum is flooded with those who would likely have less insight into this vintage as is apparent by the answering of his question.
🤪 sorry for the hijack OP. In a realm of thought that we are here to help each other we soon find that we may have been asleep and likely imagined the whole thing.
