If you’ve been following my low idle stalling issue... I changed the plugs today and they were absolutely trashed. Might have been my issue I don’t know bc now I have one thread for a plug stripped. It’s the one second closest to the firewall on drivers side. I tried and tried but no dice.
I'm very partial to this back-tap thread repair tap. The tap collapses just enough to fit inside the hole. Then you expand it and the tool engages the undamaged threads, so that everything lines up perfectly as you back it out. This style also pushes any chips out. If using a regular solid tap, it's possible to still cross-thread the hole, plus this pushes the chips into the cylinder. Smear the tap with grease to catch any chips. Here's a good video explaining the process:

Nice tool but overthinking it I feel. My fav is just chunk of below.
Spend the $12! You’ll never go back. The product description could be better. You can bend the doohickey to any shape and it stays. Turn the **** at one end and it spins the spark plug. Slicker than snot. Access on my pickup is okay so it’s not really needed, but that tool is a lifesaver on other vehicles.
