I got fenderwell exit headers on my 460 4x4. Long story short, spun the distributor this past weekend and was glowing everything from the heads to the exhaust pipe. 10 years ago, my quick clearance fix was to wrap everything in heat wrap that is close to that area. I believe there are 3 harnesses, the clutch slave hose, the speedo cable, and the rear brake lines. Up to this point I didn’t have an issue, so I never fixed it permanent. Now I have a mess to clean up. First off, what wiring runs in these harnesses by the driver side firewall? I melted one wire completely and need some ideas on how to permanently fix it.
The damaged area I need to fix, notice the header clearance Speedometer cable melted and seized Wire harnesses in that area, what do they control? I’m assuming taillights, fuel tank switching controller and transmission controls? Header clearance They wire that was completely burnt and severed. It was in its own plug, I’ll research the number and replace.
The melted wire plugged into the transfer case, I assume it was the 4wd engage light. No biggie there, thank goodness it wasn’t something that could have burnt the truck down (more than it was already!)
i figure i can undo undo the brake hardline and route inside the frame rail to keep out of the way of the headers. Still kinda stumped about the clutch hose and other harnesses. I figure the harness I can try to reroute or make a heat shield, but all I can figure for the clutch hydraulic line is to put that spark plug boot protector by dei on it.

You can buy that thermal heat sleeve tubing for fuel lines....I was going to put one on my clutch line and forgot to. It's not much of a concern on my truck as I have lots of clearance, but I was going to do it for good measure anyway.
I used a dei heat sleeve when installing the new odometer cable today, got one for the clutch hose too. I’ve got two toasted harnesses though, before I cut and re-splice then, is there any chance I can find nos ones and unplug? Pretty sure one is the taillight harness and one is the fuel tank switching harness.

are the numbers on the harnesses, sounds vague and generic, but it’s worth a try.
You didn't say what year your truck is. I picked a 1986 with a 460, and said I was looking for the engine. This junkyard came up in Kentucky. The salvage yard is the only place you are going to get a factory harness. The lighting harness may work for a f150 thru f350 with all kinds of different engines. But your fuel switching harness will have to be a 460 equipped truck, they had their own special fuel system.
If it's only that short distance, I would not worry about the colors either. It should not affect troubleshooting purposes to have the wrong color wire in that short piece in the middle of the harness.
