New headers?

I just put some Sanderson block huggers on my 400 and I'm concerned about burning up valves on my open header trip to the exhaust shop. Should I be? They are pretty short with roughly a foot of tubing per port. I'm thinking of loosely attaching a length of pipe just to get me there safely. Thoughts or wise input? Thanks.

While its a possibility it is not a probability, I would be much more worried about a ticket from the local law dogs IMHO....

I drove approx. 1-2 miles at most to my exhaust shop open headers and didn't have any issues from the engine or sheriffs department right down the street.

Thanks for the advise, fellas. Yeah my drive to the exhaust shop was about that far and I didn't have any trouble either. Just got it back yesterday and it sounds real tough! 2.5's w an H pipe to two chambers and out the sides before the rear wheels. A nice setup I think.
